Mayors Taskforce for Jobs

The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) is a kaupapa that allows us to support rangatahi into local long-term sustainable employment. MTFJ also allows us to extend our support to the local businesses employing our young people. 

This support varies for everyone and is catered to the needs of the individual, whaanau or workplace.

Support for young people can look like:

Creating a CV and Employment Profile.
We will help you create a professional CV and work with you to find out what you really want to do.
Developing Employability Skills
Through the Youth Employability Programme (YEP), you will be able to gain the skills and knowledge you need to become a valuable employee. See below for more details
Support with Job Applications
We’ll help you apply for jobs, making sure your application is complete and giving you the best chance to secure the position.
Understanding Employment Agreements
By law, every employee must have a written employment agreement. Learn what your agreement must contain.

Free Driver Licensing
Having a driver’s licence is important in the world of work. We will assist you to get your licence.

Support for Employers can look like:

Pre-employment Screening
We carefully match a set of potential recruits to the needs of your organisation, helping you find the person best suited to the position.
Ongoing Support
We help manage the transition into employment by providing the employee with ongoing support and pastoral care to manage any issues they have and ensure they give their best.
Material Assistance
We can contribute towards providing equipment and resources young people need to begin work, so that they are ready to contribute immediately.
Ongoing Training
We can provide additional training to support employees to meet your organisation’s needs and to improve their well-being and life skills.
Financial Support
We may be able to help source financial support in the form of subsidies, training, and equipment, if the position is for 30 hours or more and sustainable in the long term.
