About Us

Although young people are our priority, we also understand that helping the whole whaanau has a direct impact on our young people. Trying to help everyone that walks through our doors is a priority for us up here at Number Twelve. If we can’t help you, we will try our best to connect you with other people/services in our community that may be able to.

Our Story

Number Twelve is a space that our community asked for. Our name ‘Number Twelve’ was chosen by the young people in our community in 2013 and represents our location here in Te Kūiti ‘Number Twelve’ King Street East, Te Kūiti.

Our focus is really about working together as a community to support all our young people to have the ideal futures they dream for themselves.

We want to be a part of creating a better future for our young people and a greater community for the next generation.

Our Vision

Empowering young people to succeed.

Our Mission

Inspire, educate and encourage young people by providing opportunities for a brighter future for our community.

Our Values

Over and beyond, teamwork, wellbeing, respect and fun.

Te Kūiti has been my home for the last 18 years, however no Te Tairawhiti ahau.  I am the Manager of Number Twelve and I lead the best team here. My role is to oversee the programmes and services we deliver. For me leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.  I am passionate about ensuring our young people get a good education, that they have hopes and dreams for their future, that they are resilient and can cope with life’s challenges and that they can get a job and thrive.  I love our team at Number Twelve and every day I feel grateful to work with and for our rangatahi.

He uri no Ngāti Maniapoto. Kei Ōtorohanga ahau e noho ana.

I have been working for Number Twelve since 2011. My main role is a Youth Service Coach/ Youth Mentor but also help with our Learner Licence Program and whatever else needs to be done.

I am passionate about helping our young people and whaanau reach their potential and greater success by supporting them to feel cared and valued. That is why Number Twelve is the best place to work at, I do what I love and I love what I do. A quote from Dame Whina Cooper sums it all up for me. Take care of our children, take care of what they hear, take care of what they see, take care of what they feel. For how children grow, so will be the shape of Aotearoa.

I first joined Number Twelve as a Youth Coach for Youth Services, in April 2020 but am now in a newly developed role as a Coordinator for Number Twelve. This involves working closely with Hilary to create the processes needed for all our services to operate well. I continue to provide support and guidance for Youth Services and are also responsible for the Finance, HR portfolios. My passion is helping people, and this aligns perfectly with my role at Number Twelve. I really enjoy working with local rangatahi helping them to create goals and supporting them to achieve them.

I live in Te Kūiti with my partner, and together we have 4 children. I started working at Number Twelve as the Attendance Advisor in June 2020 and are also supporting the Learner Licencing program. I am passionate about my job as I love to see our young people succeed and believe that education plays an important role in this. I also understand that education can look different for every child and enjoy helping them find what works for them. It has been live changing for me working with the team at Number Twelve. Their passion and go the distance attitude is something to be admired.
