First things first! Our restricted program is NOT designed to teach people how to drive, instead it’s designed to make sure you are prepared enough to pass your restricted licence test.
We are able to provide an automatic vehicle free of use for anyone wanting to sit their test in an automatic. Anyone wanting to sit their test on a manual will need to provide their own warranted, registered manual vehicle. RUC must also be up to date if applicable. We are able to book your test on your behalf and organise you test day, which we can now book in Te Kuiti.
Once on the programme it is really important to show up to your lessons or communicate if you cannot make it. We will put you to the back of the list if you continually miss your lessons.
It is important for your safety, the safety of our instructors and other road users that you do not attend any scheduled appointments under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Eligibility Criteria
- Living within the Waitomo District.
- Have held a current New Zealand learner licence card for 6 months or more.
- Be confident driving a vehicle
- Have done more than 40 hours of driving
Cost
- If you attend any of our local high schools you will pay $20 towards your test fee.
- If you are working, you are expected to pay your theory test fee of $167.50
- If you are with Work & Income, ask your case manager to send a referral to us.
- If you are not in school or working, we will have a discussion with you regarding payment.
On Program Expectations
- If you are unable to attend any scheduled appointment, you must notify Number Twelve as soon as possible.
- To attend all scheduled appointments with your physical licence card. Photos of your licence will not be accepted.
